Altius is a diversified resources business that is based in Newfoundland
and Labrador.
Altius has a royalty interest in the Voisey's Bay nickel district in
Labrador, where production is ongoing. It also has exposure to gold, base
metals, and uranium through a varied exploration portfolio that is largely
funded by senior joint venture partners. In addition, the Company holds
strategic equity stakes in two public companies it co-founded in 2005;
Aurora Energy Inc. (www.aurora-energy.ca) and Rambler Metals and Mining Plc.
Altius continues to actively generate concepts and projects for
traditional metal deposits but it now also seeks opportunities to
participate in energy related opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
On the energy scene, Altius was chosen as one of six proposals concerning
the proposed development of the 2,800 megawatt Lower Churchill
hydro-electric project in Labrador. Altius' innovative financial strategy is
to create and acquire a gross electricity sales based royalty on the
project.
Altius has also facilitated the formation of Newfoundland and Labrador
Refining Corporation (www.nlrefining.com), which is currently in the third
and final stage of
a $7 Million feasibility study of a new 300,000 barrel per day oil refinery in
Placentia Bay. Altius has partnered with Irish and UK based entrepreneurs
and financiers to evaluate this opportunity.
In 2006 Altius expects in excess of $25 Million in expenditures across its'
diverse portfolio of assets and exploration projects by its partners. With a
strong treasury and incoming cash flow from the Voisey's Bay royalty Altius
moves forward in pursuit of further investment opportunities in the natural
resource sector.
These projects are organized, for ease of discussion, into the project areas
as outlined below.
