Altius is a diversified natural resources business based in Newfoundland and Labrador, its activities include the generation and advancement of mineral resource related projects located in Eastern Canada.
Altius generally prefers to create partnerships or corporate structures related to the opportunities it generates, which results in the carrying of minority and non-operating project or equity interests and/or royalty interests.
The Company holds an effective 0.3% production stage royalty interest in the Voisey's Bay nickel-copper-cobalt project in Labrador which this past year generated $4.1 million in revenues for Altius. The mine life at Voisey's Bay is estimated at ~25 years, thus enhancing the Company's ability to minimize equity dilution risk while maximizing the number of project generation opportunities that it can advance.
Currently, the Company has 12 active mineral exploration partnerships covering prospective projects for gold, base metals, nickel, uranium, potash, and iron ore. Altius also holds various investments in mining and mineral related companies (like Rambler Metals & Mining Plc - www.ramblermines.com) , through direct investment and through the vending of earn-in agreements on its mineral exploration properties.
2009 has been a very good one for Altius in its number, quality, and diversity of joint venture projects and partnerships.
Altius strives year over year to generate and supply a pipeline of strong mineral exploration projects that attract industry investors/partners who provide both financial resources to exploration programs and technical endorsement.
