In December of 2006 Altius and the newly formed Paragon Minerals Corporation (a Newfoundland spin-out of Rubicon Minerals Corporation) agreed to the terms of a joint venture partnership that will allow Paragon to earn a 100-per-cent interest in this highly prospective property in exchange for 500,000 shares in this new exploration company. A fall 2007 drilling program on the Le Marchant Zone was highlighted by an impressive massive sulphide intersection of 14.6 metres of 9.46% zinc, 2.13% lead, 0.81% copper, 73.4 g/t silver & 1.85 g/t gold. Subsequent drilling intersected further precious-metal-rich massive sulphide mineralization (23 meters of 8.55% Zn) extending the zone over a 300-metre strike length.
The property is strategically located a mere 15 kilometres southwest of the Duck Pond Mine, operated by Teck-Cominco Ltd. Both Altius' South Tally Pond property and Teck-Cominco Ltd.'s Boundary and Duck Pond deposits are contained within the Tally Pond Volcanic Belt.
