JNR Resources is a junior mining company led by a highly experienced management team with proven discovery success in uranium exploration. An early player in the renowned Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan, JNR began amassing key exploration properties in 1997 and controls over 245,000 hectares of highly prospective ground. The Company's expertise led to the discovery of the high-grade Maverick Zone (Moore Lake Joint Venture) in 2000.
In October 2007 Altius Minerals Corporation and JNR Resources Inc. (TSXV:JNN) established an alliance to explore for volcanic-hosted uranium deposits in a defined area in central Newfoundland whereby Altius and JNR will each hold a 50% interest in the venture. Altius retains a 2% Gross Sales Royalty on uranium.
The project covers 2662 square kilometers (266,225 hectares) totaling 10,649 claims making it one of the largest staking campaigns ever undertaken in eastern Canada.
The Property is underlain by felsic volcanic and related intrusive rocks of Silurian to Devonian age and feature very large areas of coincident anomalous uranium, molybdenum and fluorine in lake sediment samples.
Field investigations have confirmed the prospective geological setting for volcanic-hosted uranium deposits. A review of limited reconnaissance work reported in 1981 reveal radiometric anomalies over volcanic rocks that represent exploration targets.
Altius and JNR will conduct a 20,000 line kilometer airborne radiometric and magentic survey and follow-up prospecting and geological mapping.
